Job Description

Our client, a reputable and locally renowned law firm are looking for a super switched on Family Law Executive. Salary- £25,000- £40,000- dependent on experience.MAIN TASKS: To deal professionally - in accordance with the various procedures specified within the Firm’s Office Manual, with a general practice caseload comprising work relating to the Family Law Department, namely: divorce, ancillary matters, domestic violence, injunctions, welfare benefits, and all matters concerning children.OTHER TASKS:

  • To note, in accordance with the Firm’s time-recording system, every item of chargeable work and non- chargeable activity undertaken during the course of each working day.
  • To generate, deliver, and collect payment upon bills of costs & disbursements for services provided to clients at the rates and/or in the amounts prescribed by the Partners.
  • To record clients’ instructions in accordance with the Firm’s procedure as documented within the Office Manual.
  • To provide all clients at the outset of instructions with information concerning the Firm’s complaints handling procedure and also with information concerning the Firm’s terms of business.
  • To update clients concerning case progress and explain to clients the case outcome and the Firm’s end of case arrangements.
  • To attend Court hearings when required - on behalf of the client.
  • To report and deal with any formal complaints from clients in accordance with the Firm’s complaints procedure as specified within the Office Manual.
  • To conform, in all dealings with clients, to the standards specified within the Firm’s "Client Care" letter(s).
  • To recognise welfare benefits needs and refer clients to appropriate sources of advice.
  • To ensure that knowledge of welfare legislation is kept up to date by attending in-house training sessions and by reference to appropriate literature lodged within the Firm’s library.
  • To ensure that the selection and engagement of external experts, to assist with casework, is conducted in accordance with the Firm’s policy.
  • To ensure that file management is conducted in accordance with the Firm’s declared practice.
  • To ensure that file review is conducted in accordance with the Firm’s documented arrangements and that any corrective measures are actioned promptly.
  • To participate as required in recruitment, induction, appraisal and training episodes, which from time to time proceed within the Firm.
  • To make appropriate use of learning resources provided within the Firm’s reference library and also to comply with the Firm’s training arrangements - thus ensuring that awareness is sustained concerning current legislation and changes to the law generally, and to the law applicable to the "main tasks" in particular.
  • To undertake any other duties which may reasonably be required by those to whom you are responsible.
  • To carry out duties, as allocated and directed by the Head of the Family Law Department, faithfully and diligently - and to follow all reasonable instructions.
  • To treat all information about the Firm, its clients and their business as wholly confidential.
  • To deal properly with any entrusted money or property.
  • To comply with all the requirements of the Law Society and Solicitors Regulatory Authority.
  • To attend meetings as required by the Head of the Family Law Department.
  • To keep a proper record of all work done and training received.
  • To ensure that the needs of disadvantaged groups are recognised and taken into account in the provision of services.
  • To ensure that the Central Diary’ and the Appointments Diary’ are maintained - by providing relevant information in accordance with routines specified within the Firm’s Office Manual, Part I, Section 1, File Management Procedures’.
  • To recognise that occasionally urgent matters may arise which precipitate the need to work beyond 5.30pm.
