Job Description

Are you an experienced childrens critical care nurse, seeking a challengeDue to the expansion of our critical Care Unit , there is now an exciting opportunity for dynamic and motivated nurses to join our management team.Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust is a major trauma centre, and the Children’s Critical Care unit works closely with the Emergency Department in providing front line care for trauma patients. Nottingham Childrens Hospital Critical Care provides an essential service for Neurology/Neurosurgical; Spinal/Orthopaedic; Oncology/Haematology; Respiratory; General Surgery and Rheumatology. The hospital is also the provider of paediatric renal services for the region, which allows staff on the unit to be actively involved with kidney transplants and haemofiltration.We care for Critical Care and high dependency patients, and work very closely with an established long term ventilation team. The unit is very active in research trials works very closely with Nottingham university in providing teaching for various courses and providing placements for students.The unit runs an active foundation programme for newly qualified staff and the Nottingham Children’s Hospital has an established rotation programme

  • You must be an RSCN or RN Child qualified nurse with substantial experience of working in a childrens critical care setting as a Band 5 nurse.
  • You must have a recognised Childrens Critical Care qualification
  • You must be able to lead a team, demonstrating excellent organizational and clinical skills.
  • You will be expected to deputise and co-ordinate care on the Unit with the support of a Band 7 nurseYou will also have the opportunity to participate, after training, in taking the Bed Management bleep for the Nottingham Childrens Hospital.We are committed to supporting you and offer various professional development opportunities to enhance your critical care nursing skills and knowledge.
