Job Title and Grade: Chef Band 3Location/Trust: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS TrustDepartment Covered: Catering Services departmentLocation: City Campus, Nottingham, NG5 1PB. May also be required to work at Queens Medical centre on occasion.Pay Rates: £10.81 - £18.27 per hour depending on rota + accrued holiday payShift pattern: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hour Rotad shifts between 06:00 & 20:00, Monday - SundayDuration: Approx 1 year subject to reviewsAre you a Chef looking for new challengeNottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust,are now one of the biggest and busiest NHS Trusts in the country and provide services to over 2.5 million residents of Nottingham, its surrounding communities, and a further 3-4 million people from across the region that need to use the specialist services we provide.We have long term placement opportunities available for Chefs at Nottingham University NHS Trust specifically who will be required to undertake the following.Job Summary:The Trust operate a bulk cook-freeze operation and can produce up to 6000 portions of hot food and 600 portions of cold food per day. All food is cooked to a standard recipe and method. The majority of the work is carried out in the kitchen. Work will be allocated one task per shift. Each shift could be a different task depending on training. Work can be across two sites but predominantly at the City campus.General responsibilities include the following. List not exhaustive.Tasks

  • Prep chef: preparing recipes, meat slicing and picking items for the following days production
  • Main chef: cooking and blast chilling of food using boiling kettles (coppers), ovens, mixers and blast chillers
  • Pastry chef: preparing and portioning up pudding mixes ready for the patients meals service.
  • Diet chef: preparation, picking and distribution of food for the patients special diets
  • CF chef: bespoke service cooking for patients in the CF Centre. This is a patient facing task
  • All roles require recording of HACCP, temperatures, signing off cleaning completed and other similar documents.Candidates must be flexible as shifts and tasks can change at short notice. Must also be organised, able to work as part of a team or on their own when required. A good level physical fitness would be advantageous.Required knowledge
  • Chef Qualification, City & Guilds or equivalent
  • Allergen Awareness Training
  • Food Safety level 3
  • Standard maths and English
