Job Description

One of our most prestigious clients in Nottingham is looking for an outstanding Buyer to join their well established operation. They are looking for a commercially astute, analytical and numerical minded individual who will look after the purchase of goods, materials and services that the company requires to meet their customers demands.Our client is an established and growing business in their sector providing amazing benefits to its employees. They are offering a salary between £25,000-£30,000 per annum (dependent on experience), amazing pension scheme, private healthcare, life insurance and up to 33 days holidays including bank holidays.The Buyers duties will include:

  • Purchasing goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
  • Supporting the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicating any supply problems which may impact on business operations
  • Monitoring and advising on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organisation
  • Preparing and raising purchase orders and order schedules
  • Building, maintaining and managing supplier relationships
  • Ensuring compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures during supplier negotiations and contracts award process
  • Conducting research for new components and suppliers
  • Contacting suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
    • The successful Buyer will have the following skills and experience:
  • Experience in managing materials in an engineering and manufacturing environment
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or similar qualification or studying towards CIPS qualification would be beneficial
  • Previous experience of working in a purchasing team preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown
  • Computer literate, confident in using MS Excel
  • Familiar with an ERP software system is essential
  • Good understanding of planning, forecasting and inventory management
  • Great communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills
