Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity available for aBuyer - Direct Suppliersto join our team based in Wilford. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary.SLS are the UKs largest independent supplier of laboratory equipment, chemicals and consumables. Because of our independence, we have a unique approach to sourcing and supplying the highest quality, best value products and brands.Supplying to a wide range of sectors, provides a diverse and interesting customer base as well as providing countless opportunity to grow and expand.The Buyer - Direct Suppliers Role:An essential part of your role is understanding the requirements of the order, ensuring that all due-diligence has been carried out, liaising with the suppliers, customer service and other internal departments to ensure that the order is delivered and invoicedcorrectly and on time.Part of your role will also be to deal with escalations and resolve them to a satisfactory conclusion for both the business and customer.Key duties of our Buyer - Direct Suppliers:

  • Placing purchasing orders with suppliers for direct delivery to customer sites
  • Carry out all due-diligence on the order once the order has been placed to ensure all instructions are clear and surveys carried out when required
  • Updating orders from supplier acknowledgements checking product codes, quantities, prices etc. match our system
  • Liaising with our sales office project coordinator and suppliers on larger projects to ensure deliveries run smoothly and on time
  • Updating our system with delivery dates to ensure information is accurate and visible for all to see
  • Booking in the purchase orders and confirming them for invoice in a timely manner
  • Creating new products on our system
  • Checking lead times for non-stock products
  • Attend internal meetings as and when required
  • Suggest alternatives for out of stock lines
  • Manage and prioritise own work load
  • Take ownership to ensure tasks are completed fully
