Job Description

Job Title: Building Services Engineer (Mechanical Bias)Job Type: PermanentLocation: NottinghamSalary: DOEIndustry: Building ServicesPremier Engineering has engaged with a key client and an established specialist engineering services organization based in Nottingham who have a strong reputation in all areas of electrical, mechanical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, public health, renewable technology, and voltage regulators etc. Due to business growth a Mechanical Engineer opportunity has become available to join the team.About the JobYou will be working on a wide variety of construction projects in the UK with main duties including

  • Preparation of designs, calculations, specifications and tender documentation for mechanical services as part of a project team
  • Understanding of regulations and standards and keeping up-to-date with future changes
  • Understanding of thermal modelling SAP and SBEM
  • Coordination with other disciplines and specialists
  • Promote the company to the best ability at all times
  • Undertake feasibility studies
  • Preparation of detailed budget costs and defined estimates if required
  • Understand the requirements and have proven experience of delivering regulatory obligations associated with Building Regulations Part L and BREEAM
  • Work with the electrical / energy / Part L engineers to derive low energy design solutions
  • Attend design team and project meetings on behalf of the company
  • Prepare specifications / equipment schedules / drawing and information to installation and fully coordinated standards (RIBA Stage 5)
  • Undertaking site quality and legislative inspections and prepare associated reports
  • Deliver exceptional technical and commercial solutions
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, contract documents etc
  • Liaise directly with clients and contractors
  • Supervise junior staff on a day to day basis
  • About YouWe are looking for a forward thinking individual whose key skills and experience include:Essential
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of mechanical building services design
  • Design consultant or contractor background
  • Significant experience of mechanical building services / HVAC design (ie domestic water services, ventilation, heating, cooling, renewables and sustainability) Internal drainage an advantage
  • Hands on knowledge and understanding of TAS, Cymap and AutoCAD
  • Experience of general mechanical building engineering services
  • HNC in relevant building services subject
  • Be a team player, but able to operate at an individual level
  • Have a UK full driving licence
  • Good experience of mechanical detail design and performance design
  • Confident and outgoing personality, able to be client facing and build relationships with our valued client database
  • Desirable
  • Chartered Engineer (MCIBSE) status or be working towards this
  • Degree in a relevant building services subject
  • Experience in using Revit MED or Magicad
  • Good organisational and time management skills, able to manage projects, outputs and work within deadlines
  • Proven experience of working with, assisting and manage junior staff
  • Work in the building services design environment, some SAP and / or SBEM experience and LZC reporting would be advantageous
  • Work within a 30 minute commute to Nottingham
