JOB TITLE:MRI Radiographer DIRECTORATE: Radiology GRADE: Band 6 REPORTS TO: MRI Modality managerACCOUNTABLE TO: Diagnostic Pathway General Manager About NUH

, Our values are: Caring and helpful; Safe and Vigilant for our patients and colleagues; Being Clinically Excellent and driving innovation to meet the needs of our patients; Using our Resources wisely whilst; Providing Quality products, servicesand experiences for staff and patientsJOB SUMMARYWith a vision of "working together to be the best for patients", the post holder will ensure the smooth running of the MRI service by using radiographic skill and ability.Ensure a quality service with a high standard of patient care with the outcome of a positive patient experience, and to comply with the Trusts Values and Behaviours as set out below.KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESTo undertake imaging procedures within area of speciality.To maintain a high standard of work and to strive for continual improvements in radiographic standards and patient care.To manipulate and manoeuvre radiographic equipment and patients in order to obtain high quality diagnostic images within the departments protocols and procedures.To participate in the appropriate Band 6 rota system including out of hours and on-call duties as required by the Radiology Services Manager to cover service commitments.To assist in the triaging of workflow and patients in the area within which they are working by collaborating with colleagues to maximise departmental efficiency.To effectively delegate tasks to members of the team in order to successfully manage the workload of the area within which they are working.To explain procedures to patients in order to facilitate their full understanding and co-operation throughout the examination.To communicate to out-patients, information related to their imaging procedure that facilitates their management and referral to other departments as appropriate.To undertake the intravenous injection of contrast media in compliance with the Directorate protocol if required by their role.To supervise and advise less experienced radiographers that form the team within which they are working.To ensure that imaging requests are clear and appropriate as dictated by the Royal College of Radiologists guidelines and take appropriate action if they fail to meet the guidelines and provide guidance for more junior staff as required.To communicate with medical and nursing staff to ensure the appropriateness of imaging procedures in relation to the patients condition.To establish and maintain a good working relationship with other members of staff and disciplines.Ensure that information is recorded in a legible manner that is understandable to fellowprofessionals.To use computerised and manual methods of documentation to provide accurate imaging patient records and ensuring the requirements of the Data Protection Act are complied with when handling patient information.To assess, by the way of a safety questionnaire, all patients suitability to enterthe magnetic field.
