Are you looking for the right role for you Then look no further….Authorising EngineerSalary - £56,022 to £72,474 (plus benefits)Hours - 37.5 hours per week, 8.30am to 5.00pmLocation Postcode - Anywhere in the UKAs an Authorising Engineer at FCC Environment, you will administer, train, authorise and audit the FCC Energy from Waste (EfW) Safety Rules which detail the relevant safety, health and welfare matters. You will ensure the company complies with its statutoryobligations relating to the management of work associated with working on electrical and mechanical systems of an EfW. You will provide advice to senior managers and directors regarding the above and receive advice from appropriately disciplined engineers, as well as promoting and coaching the intentions of the rules to the staff within EfWs during regular site visits.This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.Our promise to you- Competitive salary- 25 days’ annual leave (full-time working) plus Bank Holidays- Pension scheme- Life insurance- Discretionary bonus scheme- On-the-job training and progression- Recognition scheme- Refer a friend- Flexible benefits including high street savings, cycle to work scheme and Gymflex membership, holiday purchase and many more.- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and the Best Doctors Service via our Wellbeing Platform.What will you be doing- Ensure the competency of personnel involved with electrical and mechanical work and isolations, and where necessary, recommend suspension or cancellation of employee authorisation- Ensure safe working practices are employed for LV, Mechanical and HV work - Ensure IMS documentation and safety rules that are interlinked are compliant - Continually review the effectiveness of safety rules policies and procedures- Complete a full audit of the Electrical Safety Management Procedures- Own systems/standards/specifications for Permits to Work, electrical testing/live working, substations and switch rooms, and new plant/equipment- Internal monitoring of SAPs including verification of compliance with all safety rules policies and procedures- Peer reviews and formal monitoring/audits of SAPs- Personally undertake a predetermined number of Audits covering individuals, FCC standards for safety, compliance with statutory regulations, and activities carried out by FCC SAPs and contractors- Organising and being a panel member of Authorising panels.- Initiate and co-ordinate investigations of relevant electrical and mechanical near misses, incidents and dangerous occurrences and/or review and comment upon internal investigation reports- Facilitate the organising of HV, LV and Mechanical practical and theoretical training- Work in conjunction with, and contribute to, the High Voltage Working Group and Chair the Safety Rules Working Group- Agree the extent of the FCC electrical and mechanical systems with third parties- Recommend and assist site teams with specialist PPE required for use - Develop training packages and provide training to facilitate all levels of activity within GE+ Safety Rules- Provide training and documentation to all staff within Energy DivisionEssential:- Relevant experience as an HV, LV and Mechanical SAP in a high-risk process industry or electricity generation, transmission or distribution environment- Degree qualified in STEM discipline preferably weighted to Electrical Engineering or proven and extensive experience in a similar job role. Further postgraduate study such as a Masters/PhD is desirable- Chartered / Incorporated Engineer or sufficient competency to achieve this- At least 10 years’ experience in relevant roles, with practical and relevant technical experience of the types of systems and equipment relative to their appointment- H&S qualification, such as a NEBOSH Certificate- Knowledge of, and the ability to interpret, statutory regulations- Knowledge of the HV, LV and mechanical systems and installations in use and more complex systems applicable to the appointmentAbout UsWe are FCC Environment, one of the nation’s leading waste and resource management companies.
