Job Description

R13 are pleased to be working alongside a specialised education and care provider in their search for a Teaching Assistant to join their team. The purpose of your role will be to providing support for and delivery of key aspects of the curriculum and pupils individual programmes.You will be joining a friendly and supportive team, who work together and encourage each other through sometimes challenging situations. This is a great opportunity working closely with students to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed and where your impact will be of crucial important to the student’s journey.Duties to include:

  • Supporting pupils directly or indirectly in undertaking individual/group work.
  • Assisting in the preparation of learning materials for specific area of the curriculum.
  • Involvement in the planning, assessment and recording of educational activities.
  • Delivering pre-planned learning activities.
  • Daily observation of pupils behaviour and progress.
  • Establishing good standard of behaviour and achievement for pupils.
  • Liaising between education and care staff and the senior management team.
  • Provide pastoral support and complement the Personal, Health and Social Education of the students
  • Monitoring the quality of relationships between pupils, staff & pupils and between staff in order to seek ways to improve.
    • You will have/be:
  • Previous experience in a similar role dealing with young people displaying social, emotional and behavioral problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop positive and supportive relationships with children, colleagues and parents
  • Awareness of the requirements of working in a residential care setting that is the child’s home.
  • At least Level 1 English Language/Literacy qualification.
  • An innovative and creative practitioner with a drive and passion to ensure all students achieve.
  • Confidence in working independently with small groups of students or one-on-one.
  • Good behaviour management skills
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Calm, positive, patient, but firm
  • Good administrative skills with the ability to accurately maintain records/data.
    • Desirable:
  • Undertaking/completed or willing to undertake NVQ3 or equivalent qualification.
    • This is a permanent position working 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. The role will involve occasionally travel offsite to other venues for educational visits.
