Job Description

Payroll Assistant - £25,000+ Per AnnumNorwichFull TimeReed Accountancy and Finance are proud to be working with a local authority in the Norwich area who require a Payroll Assistant to join their finance team.The Payroll Assistant will have a keen interest in developing a career in Finance. They will also possess strong communications skills, interpersonal skills, and can work both independently and as part of a team.The Payroll Assistant position itself entails the following in summary:

  • Maintain payroll information, directing the collection and entering of data for timely and accurate employee payment calculations.
  • Responsible for the running and management of small payrolls and assist in the running and management of the larger, more complex payrolls. This includes identifying problem or areas requiring additional support and seeking positive outcomes with the business.
  • Assist the Payroll Business Partner in all areas, escalating potential service issues and identifying possible solution.
  • Updating payroll records by reviewing and approving changes for variation.
  • Manage enquiries within and from external sources ensuring an efficient, accurate, and professional service at all times with customer care standards met.
  • Awareness of the payroll policies and procedures.
  • Awareness of existing and new legislation.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
  • Maintain quality control measures and audit processes.
  • Management of Court Order administration, to include full knowledge and understanding of order type, deduction % thresholds and payroll system functionality.
  • Manual gross to net calculations and calculation of appropriate system adjustments. To include overpayments as per company policy and HMRC legislation.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management and professional presentation, oral and written communication at all times. Effectively manage own workloads, review personal development and maintain legislative knowledge.
  • Supply periodical and ad hoc management information reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
  • Computer literate, excellent experience in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to effectively manage your workload in a deadline driven environment
  • Experience of Payroll systems
Schedule and Benefits:
  • Salary of £25,000+ per annum
