Job Description

Offering an excellent rate of pay, an exciting varied role, and a friendly working environment, we are looking for an experienced numbers driven individual to join our team as a Full-Time Payroll and Finance Officer.Equal Lives is a user led disabled persons organisation based in Sackville Place, Norwich that is dedicated to making service users voices heard, supporting people to empower themselves to live independent and fulfilled lives.Hours: Full time 37 hours per week. Role responsibilities for the Payroll and Finance Officer:You will hold responsibility for the provision of our payroll function for customers, as well as internal payroll responsibilities. Duties will include:

  • Interpreting timesheets and other records to obtain accurate data for processing payroll
  • Calculating payments and deductions to be made to employees including basic pay, holiday pay, SSP, SMP and Nest pensions
  • Processing payroll, charges and other payroll expenses on behalf of individuals
  • Processing HMRC returns and other employment and payroll-related documents on behalf of individuals
  • Distributing payslips and other payroll information to individuals and their employees
  • Responding to queries from your customers regarding their payroll
  • Processing sales and purchase ledger invoices, charges and other expenses
  • Processing incoming funds from individuals
  • Processing payments, such as HMRC liability
  • Maintaining comprehensive and up to date databases, lists and other records following procedures
  • Ensuring legal compliance is maintained at all times
  • Supporting the Finance and Systems Manager with development and implementation of finance-related policies and procedures
  • Processing of bank reconciliations
  • Working with external contractors to support the organisations ongoing contract, legal and financial compliance
  • Contributing to the induction and training of any new staff members
Requirements for the Payroll and Finance Officer:
  • Significant experience working in a payroll and finance capacity, with experience of using Sage 50 and 200, as well as BrightPay would be an advantage
  • An understanding of the barriers faced by disabled people, the Equality Act 2010 and Social Model of Disability
  • Able to support Managers with finance related issues
  • Numbers driven, logical and great attention to detail
  • Friendly, enthusiastic and positive
  • Able to deliver excellent customer service
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time well
  • Ability to proactively review and improve services
