IT and Computing ServiceOPERATIONAL IT SECURITY MANAGER • REF: ALC1074£42,792 to £49,553 per annumAre you an experienced IT Security Manager interested in helping to build the University of the future Can you help us overcome the challenges of emerging technologies, new competitors, and changing expectations from our staff and students that are changing our world forever We know now isn’t the time to stand still, we need to act boldly, be innovative and transform the way we think, especially in the realm of Cyber Security.To help create the university of the future, we’ve developed an Operational IT Security Manager role in the University’s Information Technology and Computing Service which is at the digital heart of the UEA and covers all aspects for IT provision for the University’s Faculties, Schools and Professional Services.You will be expected to assist in our transformation journey away from traditional IT Services, towards UEA’s 2030 vision by leading the new Operational IT Security Team to help develop a university that is at the vanguard of student, staff, research and global success in this time of great change in Higher Education in the UK and internationally.Working closely and in collaboration with the Head of IT Security, you will be directly responsible for mitigating the University’s operational IT Security risk. You will be reporting on and ensuring mitigation of vulnerabilities within the IT estate; detection and initial investigation of suspicious activity from analysis of system log files; and improving awareness of the IT Security agenda within our operational IT teams via training and coaching. You will also be responsible for maintaining UEA compliance with accreditations such as PCI and Cyber Essentials Plus.You will have a degree (or equivalent qualification) and/or have equivalent level of experience in a directly comparable role, along with Information Security certification/qualification. Expert experience of LogRhythm, NXlog, Tenable and Snort, specifically the interaction of the products in an HEI environment, is also essential together with strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills. You must be able to demonstrate that you satisfy all the essential criteria in the person specification.Closing date: 26 April 2021.The University is a Silver Athena Swan Award holder.
