Job Description

Library AssistantRole: Senior Information Assistant for Educational LibraryPay: £11.25 per hourContract: 3-months initial placementHours: 36.25 hours a week with some weekend workRole:

  • Answering user queries in person or online
  • Work with team members to divide up tasks and use initiative to prioritise tasks according to time of year and student need.

  • Detailed knowledge of the Library Management System is required.
  • Senior Information Assistants also manage wider university enquiries, using their knowledge to appropriately direct users via a variety of online services.
  • Where queries are very complex or relate to services beyond the Librarys control, Senior
  • Information Assistants should ensure the user is handed over to the appropriate service.
  • Create, share and maintain engaging and up-to-date front-line promotional and display material.
  • Assisting with the return of items and re-shelving of Library stock, collection of materials from within the building and transfer of stock between the Main Library.
