Job Description

Our client, a prestigious, international manufacturing company, based in Norwich, are currently seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to join their busy QHSE department!This is a full time, Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week, initial 3-month FTC.As the Health and Safety Advisor, you will provide technical and practical Health and Safety support to the Company through the maintenance, review and application of H&S management system. This will be demonstrated by you promoting the highest levels oflegal compliance, risk management and consistently safe behaviours.Main duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Production of risk assessment and method statement documentation for routine & non routine activities.
  • Verification of engineering controls by exposure monitoring and other methods in relation to COSHH.
  • Isolation planning & support to those controlling work activities by staff and contractors (Mechanical Authorised Person).
  • Monitoring and mentoring of compliance with existing procedures and task method statements.
  • Auditing and benchmarking activities.
  • Incident, accident and near miss investigation.
  • Safety Management system review and updates
  • Promoting and developing competence and consistency across shift teams, including training and assessment.
  • Supporting Fire & Emergency response duties and training.
Your qualifications and experienceThe ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Degree in a science-based discipline.
  • A NEBOSH Certificate/ or equivalent.
  • Health & Safety experience gained within a high hazard, manufacturing or construction environment.
  • Experience preparing detailed risk assessments and method statements across a range of activities and disciplines.
  • The ability to understand complex tasks and challenge working methods in a constructive manner.
  • Working knowledge of ISO management systems.
  • Experience of auditing, and occupational hygiene/environmental monitoring would be desirable.
The successful candidate will be assertive, inquisitive and able to evaluate differing working methods, in line with legislation, best practice and Company procedures.
