Job Description

Head of Student ServicesNorwich, on-siteTemporary contract - 3 monthsUp to £30 per hourSTART - 8th Jan 2024My client in the global education sector is looking for an interim Head of Student Services, based in Norwich to take responsibility for running the Support Services team, including admissions, academic support, and placement and progression.You will ensure high levels of student satisfaction and enhance the student experience, by overseeing and ensuring the delivery of high-quality student support, including welfare, student administration, academic support, accommodation, and social activities.Further responsibilities include:

  • To act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, alongside the Centre Director where appropriate, and to ensure compliance with all Safeguarding regulations including the Prevent Duty.
  • You will develop strategic priorities to further the goals of the centre, and ultimately enable the progression of well-prepared international students to the University as undergraduate and postgraduate student
  • You will work to develop and streamline operations, policies and leading best practices and ensure efficiency
  • In addition to your key accountabilities, you will demonstrate model behaviour and organisational compliance.
  • To provide a duty of care to all our students, paying particular attention to those under 18 in the context of national and local safeguarding legislation.
  • To keep updated on relevant national guidelines and legislation and regulations concerning international students and student welfare and ensure the centres management team and support services team are kept up to date in turn.
  • To draft and review relevant policies or procedures relating to international students and their accommodation, welfare and immigration status.
Person specification:
  • You must have an appropriate DBS disclosure before confirmation of appointment.
  • Eligibility to work in and travel freely to and from the UK, e.g. valid UK or EC passport
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent; or relevant industry experience
  • Recent experience working in an educational environment in a student services or other specialist advisory capacity.
  • Line management and budgetary experience.
  • Experience of risk assessment
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Good IT skills including competence in the interpretation of management information.
  • Facilitative management style: able to establish, manage and motivate a team in a
  • fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with peers, senior managers, university stakeholders, parents and students from a range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work under pressure with defined resources.
