Farm Fitter/Tractor DriverMy client is one of the UKs largest growers and suppliers of fresh produce and have an exciting new opportunity for a farm fitter to join their teamJob Summary/Purpose:Responsible for providing repairs and services to farm vehicles and equipment to ensure they are safe to use at all times. Provide tractor driving support to the wider farm team where necessary.Duties and Responsibilities:Health and SafetyPromote and support a safe working environment and foster a culture of safety first within the farm maintenance function.Ensure that all H&S policies are adhered to at all times and that machines are operated in compliance within company Health and Safety policies.Escalate any potential Health and Safety issues immediately by reporting Accidents and Near Misses as soon as they occur.Food SafetyEnsure all machinery is suitable to run within a food safe environment, prior to operation.Adhere to Business Food Safety Standards at all times.StrategyImplement service schedules and regular maintenance programmes for all farm equipment to ensure it is safe to use, road worthy and available for key business activities when they occur.Look to service tractors and other farm equipment inhouse wherever possible unless a dealer servicing package is in place.Liaise with Farm Director, Farm Manager, Farm Operations Managers where necessary to make decisions on the best course of action for maintenance, repair, sale or disposal of all farm equipment as costs dictate.Maintenance ManagementMaintain, Repair and Service all farm equipment.Repair any break downs or minor damage within the farm tractor fleet that is practicable in house. To contact dealers where necessary for repair work that is outside of inhouse capability.Repair farm vans, pickups and cars where possible or contact external garages for their timely repair, for services and/or MOTs.To prioritise repair work where necessary to ensure down time is kept to a minimum on time sensitive activities such as spraying and harvesting operations.When procuring parts do so from the most cost-effective sources and where necessary obtain 3 quotes for big ticket items.Tractor DrivingProvide cover for all our tractor driving functions as and when business needs dictate.Continuous Improvement/TrainingEnsure completion of companys Risk Management training course.Complete Food Safety Level 2 on line training.Complete external welding and COSHH training courses when they are made available.Identify a course for farm engineering which provides a personal industry recognised qualification that is relevant to the companys farm engineering needs.Work towards the aim of the farm engineering function to be self-starting; managing and prioritising jobs in terms of immediate work interruption first.This role would be guaranteed 39 hours per week but would be paid overtime after 40 hours. Working 5 days out of 7, however mostly Mon-Fri.
