Job Description

Want to make a differenceRole Snapshot..We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly organised, flexible individual to join our elections team, we are currently based at Thorpe Lodge Norwich with a planned move to Broadland Business Park.What you could be part ofYou could assist in the organisation, coordination and conduct of all local and national elections, referenda and parish or other polls and to assist in the preparation, publication and maintenance of the register of electors.Furthermore, you could assist in the development and implementation of measures to improve the accuracy of the register of electors and increase participation in elections through the promotion of electoral engagement.Whilst we offer flexible working arrangements most of the time, the elections world can be unpredictable (think European parliamentary election that was never meant to happen followed by a December general election) this means we need someone who is preparedto work unsociable and long hours in the run up to elections, sometimes with little notice.What youll be doing

  • You will support and assist the Electoral Services Manager and Senior Electoral Services Officer in preparing and maintaining the electoral register and the conduct of all types of election.
  • Assist in the preparation, publication and maintenance of the register of electors, including the annual canvas and individual registration, in accordance with relevant legislation and statutory deadlines.
  • Manage and oversee the monthly rolling registration process, ensuring that the register is complete and accurate, maintaining the high standard of data quality expected in the authority, ensuring registers and monthly updates distributed according to legalrequirements.
  • Responsibility for maintaining special category electors, including anonymous, overseas, absent voters and service voters and the statutory PVI refresh.
  • Promote the electoral accuracy through the correct procedures, including undertaking personal canvass visits to people within South Norfolk and Broadland.
  • Coordinate the distribution of the register of electors, by sale or provision of free copies, in data or hard copy format, to all external organisations in accordance with the statutory requirements.
You must have
  • Effective administration skills with the ability to work under immense pressure at times to meet statutory deadlines, whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy, attention to detail.
  • IT literate skills and effective communication
  • The ability to maintain political impartiality and confidentiality.
  • Good teamwork skills and be happy to roll their sleeves up and get involved in all aspects of the role.
