Offering a friendly and rewarding working environment, meaningful opportunities to make a difference in the lives of young people and a range of benefits, YMCA Norfolk are looking for an Early Years & Communities Director to join their team.YMCA Norfolk is a local charity who supports young people and families offering meaningful accommodation, training, health and wellbeing, and family support to make a difference in the lives of young people.The RoleEarly Years & Communities Director:The Early Years and Communities Director will enable YMCA Norfolk to grow the provision of Early Years and Communities Work, while supporting the mission of transforming young lives.This role will sit alongside the CEO, Corporate Services Director, Business Development Officer, and a new Housing Director as part of the Executive Team at YMCA Norfolk.The role will focus on the strategic direction of their portfolio, whilst ensuring the regulatory requirements of Ofsted are met.As Early Years & Communities Director, you will be involved in:
  • To lead the development and delivery of YMCA Norfolks Early Years and Communities strategy across Norfolk
  • Act as the organisations Nominated Person for Ofsted
  • To be the organisational lead for safeguarding Children and Young People
  • To be a member of the Executive Team providing collective strategic leadership to the organisation so that young people can develop in body, mind and spirit.
  • To be responsible for ensuring implementation of agreed standards across the Early Years and Communities operations
  • To actively work to enhance the Christian ethos of the organisation so that it has a tangible impact on peoples lives
You will be responsible for but not limited to:
  • Operational Strategic leadership
  • Safeguarding children, young people & adults
  • Performance management to the highest standards
  • Risk assessments
  • Responsible for presentations of performance
  • Actively encourage a culture of involvement and inclusion
  • Quality Assurance
  • Monitor the agreed implementation of policies and procedures
  • Strengthen and uphold the Christian identity of the organisation
  • To line manage 2 managers directly as well as the teams of those direct reports and any consultants as required
  • Communications, ensuring effective liaison, advice and guidance
  • Equality and Diversity
Person SpecificationEarly Years & Communities Director:
  • You will have a proven record with working knowledge of Early Years, including legislation and regulation
  • Up-to-date knowledge of EYFS
  • Experience of managing large budgets effectively
  • Have a Degree or Diploma in Early Years, Education or a subject closely related to Early Years provision.
  • You will be an excellent People Manager, with substantial experience of management and leadership
  • Possess interpersonal skills that allow you to lead and motivate your team
  • Be able to build co-operative working relationships with other organisations.
  • You will have a demonstrable and active commitment to the Christian faith, and be skilled in delivering Christian devotionals and Christian faith-based talks and presentations
  • Able to think on your feet, present in a professional manner and respond well under pressure
