We strive to support people to maintain their independence and improve their sense of well-being, puttingthem in more control of their own lives.As a Telephone Adviser you will be the first point of telephone or written contact for people affected by dementia who need support.The service comprises of Dementia Support Workers and Admiral Nurses working together to support people affected by dementia across Norfolk and Waveney, assessing their needs and identifying desired outcomes. You will become an integral part of this team, whereyou will also excel at working on your own initiative, using your excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a demanding and rewarding workload.In this role you will provide a highly responsive, individualised and empathic information, advice, support and signposting/referral service to people affected by dementia and memory loss symptoms.About youYou will have;

  • Passion to support people to maintain their independence and improve their sense of well-being, putting them in more control of their lives.
  • A solid and compassionate understanding of the needs of people affected by dementia.
  • Demonstrable skill and experience in delivering a support service to people via the telephone and email.
  • Good IT skills and experience of working with databases.
  • A warm and welcoming approach, that promotes trust in the service for those who access it.
  • The ability to work inclusively with people affected by dementia, along with an understanding of the need for client confidentially.
  • Great communication skills, and the ability to adapt your approach to ensure understanding at all levels.
  • Knowledge of working alongside volunteers and an understanding of the valuable contribution volunteers bring to services whilst championing their inclusion in all that we deliver.
You will;
  • Be the first point of contact for people wishing to access the Norfolk and Waveney Dementia Support Service.
  • Deliver high quality information, advice and support, including emotional support.
  • Use your skills to work with individuals to assess immediate needs and wishes and identify further support requirements.
  • Use your initiative and sensitivity to find the best way to present and explain information.
  • Be able to transfer individuals for further support, both internally and externally, following service specifications.
  • Promote our amazing service with those that you have contact with.
