Job Description

Other Key Information: Fully agile position, but there is a requirement to attend the office on designated team days.Do you enjoy working in a team and dealing with customersRole Snapshot This role is part of the fast-paced Council Tax team. The main purpose of the role is to ensure accurate billing of Council Tax. This means you will deal with members of the public as well property developers and builders, often face-to-facewhile visiting properties and building sites. You will have polite and professional in your approach, have a good eye for detail and an inquisitive mind. Every day will bring a variety of work, so you will need the ability to multi-task, be self-motivated,have excellent customer service skills and enjoy problem solving.What you could be part ofBroadland District and South Norfolk Councils are in a partnership with staff working together for both Councils.   • Visit dwellings under construction to assess progress and to establish the dates when properties will be complete.
  • Liaise with owners and developers as needed and serve completion notices as necessary.
  • Carry out inspections of empty residential properties to determine liability.
  • Visit residential dwellings where their assessments may have changed or may be missing from the Valuation List.
  • Liaise and send reports to the Valuation Office to ensure any matter are correctly dealt with and the appropriate council tax and rating lists are maintained
  • Attend valuation tribunals to give evidence in respect of completion notices and other properties as required.
  • Strive for continuous improvement of processes and procedures. Look for and embrace innovation to identify efficiencies where appropriate.
You must have
  • A full clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance
  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C (or equivalent qualification) including Maths and English
  • Proven experience of corresponding in with customers through multi channels
  • Proven experience of working in a busy and pressured environment
  • Demonstrable comprehensive working knowledge of IT including Microsoft office packages and internet use
  • Ability to regularly work independently outside the office and be self-motivated and achieve annual performance objectives
  • Good planning, organisational and time management skills, including prioritisation and self-monitoring of workload
  • Ability to learn, understand and apply complex legislation and work within Councils
  • policies and procedures
  • Proven experience of an inquisitive nature and ability to use own initiative
  • 71-85% of this roles time will be spend on external communication.
