The Norfolk and Norwich Radiotherapy Department is a paperless Varian department. Currently we have fleet of five Varian TrueBeams, two CT simulators (GE & Canon) and an Xstrahl superficial unit. We also have a dedicated theatre suite which holds a Varian Bravos HDR afterloader.Our managed service contract ensures our equipment is up to date and well maintained. Our dosimetry planning is radiographer-led, predominately using VMAT and IMRT.Norwich is served by two large shopping centres, with all the national chains you would expect, alongside independent retailers in the historic streets and vibrant market. The city has more than its fair share of restaurants, pubs, theatres and clubs to keep you occupied outside work. We also have good rail links to London and Cambridge. Surrounding Norwich there are a number of picturesque small towns and villages for those who prefer a quieter life.We have a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital radiotherapy team as a Consultant Therapeutic Radiographer, working in Brachytherapy. The successful candidate will become part of our respected brachytherapy team, who currently provide a service for both gynaecological and prostate patients. The team were the first in the world to use the Varian Bravos HDR unit and we are now a Varian reference centre for this equipment. In 2019 the team won a Macmillan Quality Improvement Excellence award.Although this is an established role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the role to fit with their strengths, working in partnership with the Clinical Oncologists and Head of Radiotherapy. The role encompasses the whole brachytherapy pathway and also takes managerial responsibility for their team and the dedicate brachytherapy theatre suite.For those that do not currently have all the skills or experience required for this Consultant Therapeutic Radiographer post, there is a potential development opportunity as a Trainee Consultant Therapeutic Radiographer - please refer to attached Job Description.We are looking for a forward thinking team player, who wants to play a role in keeping our service at the forefront of modern radiotherapy.
