Job Description

Working closely with an established board to continue the evolution of the finance function as well as support the next period of growth, fundraising and M&A activity as well as internationalisation.Client DetailsAn impressive pre-revenue R&D organisation specialising in Life Sciences and Agricultural sustainability.Description

  • With the CEO and Senior Leadership Team, determining and driving companys strategic financial development, including fundraising and growth activities (M&A).
  • Overseeing and ensuring delivery of accounting best practices within all relevant activities undertaken by the Company, including managing its external accounting service providers.
  • Overseeing external auditors and developing periodical financial reports in support of the efficient management of the companys operations.
  • Collaborating with the management team and Board of Directors to anticipate the companys financial needs required to effectively meet its strategic objectives. Establish and maintain budgetary discipline.
  • Establish key financial controls with the company to monitor spend activities and maintain compliance and segregation of duties.
  • Support the organisation by developing adequate tools to monitor progress in R&D projects / collaborations / work performed.
  • Support, control and evaluate the organizations fundraising plans and capital structure.
  • Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organizations operations.
  • Prepare reliable current and forecasting reports / budget / plans.
  • Set up and oversee the companys finance IT system (including automation where possible in accounting processes).
  • Ensure compliance with the law and companys policies.
  • Manage team of Financial Controller and other finance staff.
Profile
  • Relevant accounting qualifications (e.g. ACA), preferably with further working experience with a notable accounting firm or financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of/ experience with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
  • Previous managerial experience in finance-oriented roles (e.g. VP Finance, Financial Director, CFO) in growing small-midsized companies, ideally within the BioTech, Lifesciences or Agribusiness industries.
  • Demonstrable accomplishment in leading/supporting growth companies through major financial events, including significant fundraising campaigns, IPOs and M&A activity.
  • Solid understanding of R&D processes.
  • Strong Strategic capability able to bring broad strategic thinking to the Senior Management Team with the capability to identify and dive the strategic direction of Tropic for the future.
  • High ethical standards, strong fit with the teams values and culture, genuine interest in science, and an ability to excel within a fast-pace and dynamic environment.
  • A team player, and enterprise leader, bringing a wealth of experience outside of just financial expertise to drive the company forward.
