Job Description

Category Manager level role within the UKs largest procurement organisationEnd to end responsibility for one of the largest growth categories in the UKClient DetailsAt CCS, we have an ambition to double the volume of spend through our deals and become a £30bn per annum organisation within the coming years. To achieve this, we continue to grow our Construction team across the UK and this Directorate will play a key rolein meeting our ambitious growth plan, central to which is ensuring that customer demands are embedded into our construction strategy. To enable this we are seeking Category Managers to join the construction team. These roles will play a key part in the ongoingdevelopment of a sustainable Construction Industry to deliver Government policy including, social value and Carbon Net Zero targets.   • Customer Relationship Management that puts the Customer at the heart of what we do.
  • Supplier Relationship and Performance Management that enhances the Customer experience.
  • Implement and support initiatives to retain existing and attract new customers across the
construction categories
  • Possible Line management responsibility of a small team, supporting the development of other
team members, ensuring resilience in the team.
  • Occasional site visits to customer and supplier premises across the United Kingdom
  • Responsibility of Category management including for example the management of supplier and
customer management information, financial reporting, updating and analysing multiple datasources to identify trends and spending behaviours. General commercial agreement managementactivities.
  • Reporting directly to the Category Lead the role holder will be required to identify and provide
recommendations for improvement of processes and implement solutions to the benefit of CCS.
  • An understanding of Commercial Agreements (Frameworks) and Framework call off (mini
competition) would be an advantage.
  • The role holder will be required to use a variety of digital systems for which full training will be
provided.
  • Communicating complex data effectively, to personnel of differing levels of seniority, using a
variety of styles and methods that match the audience.
  • Working across teams in a collaborative manner and upon occasion lead and/or represent the
Construction team on agreed corporate initiatives.
  • Supporting and at times, leading on the procurement of both new and renewal of commercial
agreements.
  • Supporting the Category Lead in updating and developing the category strategy and presenting
the strategy to key stakeholders.ProfileEssential Criteria - Assessed at application:* Be able to demonstrate strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse data and makeinformed commercial decisions* Be able to demonstrate the ability to lead on supplier and customer activities across the category,providing commercial support, advice and challenge* Be able to demonstrate experience of category management, developing and maintaining robustcategory strategies and robust commercial agreement management.* Be able to demonstrate the ability to work proactively and collaboratively, in partnership with keystakeholders, leading, motivating, influencing and persuading both internal and external driveinnovation and value for money solutions. whilst developing customers commercial capabilities.Desirable Criteria:* Construction category experience* Public Sector Procurement experience* Knowledge/Awareness of common construction forms of contract (e.g. NEC, JCT)Job OfferCompensation
