Acorn Park is a multi-site with a DfE registered specialist school for children and young people with Autism and related disabilities or difficulties. Also within the grounds are 8 individualchildrens homes. Each home holds its own speciality ranging from support non-verbal children all the way through to high functioning young people who are learning independence for adult life. The Quadrant is 6 semi-independent flats for children and youngpeople who are ready to begin their journey to adulthood with support from the dedicated team to learn life skills and about life in the community.This home is based in Banhamand is within commuting distance from Norwich, Attleborough, Thetford and surrounds.The opportunityThis is a role with an exciting career and development plan, structured to ensure our staff are trained, supported, and continually developed. It is an incredible opportunity to launch your career and see it flourish.The RoleOptions Autism Work directly with autistic Children who exhibit a wide range of abilities, from non-verbal to high-functioning and You will be patient and compassionate and, most of all, dependable – working hard to forge a much-needed relationship of trustwith those in your care.This will involve creatively learning about the young person’s interests as well as their dislikes and their triggers, using that connection as a launchpad for a rewarding relationship. A passion for this kind of relationship-building is essential.You will be responsible for the wellbeing of the children or young people in your care. This will include chaperoning the children to appointments and activities, completing relevant paperwork, undertaking household tasks, and where appropriate administeringmedication.Working as part of an incredible team of committed care workers, you will co-operate and share knowledge and learning to the benefit of great care. Excellent communication skills are essential, both in terms of teamwork and – most importantly – as you willbe in close contact with the children you care for.Kindness is key.
