Job Description

Scintillant specialises in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the scientific sector. We have an excellent opportunity for a Business Development and Impact Manager to join a leading scientific institute.Salary: £42,050 - £51,950 + Great Benefits2 Year Contract, Full-time, Hybrid (1 day at home per week)Business Development Managers Main Duties: Provide coordination and project management support with development and delivery of research within the industry

  • Responsible for impact planning, implementation, and reporting of strategic programmes
  • Plan and deliver training, annual events, and seminar programme
  • Work with inventors on IP disclosure and protection processes, liaising with IP attorneys and Head of BD
  • Report on project and portfolio activity, impact activities, and IP management
  • Support the delivery of commercialisation projects in terms of research, licensing of IP, and consultancy
  • Support academic staff in their building of business engagement, commercialisation, and strategic skills
  • Develop external relationships and networks within the industry to raise the profile of the institute
Business Development Managers Qualifications & Skills:
  • Degree in Biological or Life Sciences subject
  • Postgraduate qualification in a Life Science subject (desirable)
  • Qualification / training in Technology Transfer, Knowledge Exchange, IP Management or producing legal contracts (desirable)
  • Significant experience working in the Life Sciences sector
  • In-depth understanding of processes surrounding knowledge exchange and the commercialisation of research within life sciences sector
  • Significant knowledge and understanding of processes underlying the delivery impact from research and the theory of change
  • Understanding of how IP is developed and managed in an academic environment
  • Understanding of UK knowledge transfer community and how to leverage it
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Ability to plan and deliver training and facilitate audience engagement
  • Considerable experience in academic technology transfer environment within knowledge exchange and commercialisation
  • Experience of industry engagement and networking within private and public sectors
  • Significant project management experience and supporting a portfolio of projects
  • Experience working on national and international grant applications (desirable)
  • Experience working with SMEs and large multi-national companies (desirable)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and presentations skills
  • Ability to attend evening events and training outside of normal working hours when required
