Job Description

Purpose of RoleTo own and manager the ongoing architecture and development of our BI, Reporting and analytics platforms as well as supporting our live website Databases.Job role and responsibilities:The role:

  • Provide data architecture and design leadership for the technology department
  • Take ownership of current BI Dev team, and manage the full delivery lifecycle for data development
  • Manage our database software (MySQL) and act as DBA for the broader team across live website and reporting
  • Priorities:
    • Implement technical recommendations of recent IT Security review, including upgrade to MySQL 8.0 Enterprise
    • Assist in developing BI roadmap, and assess and recommend options for moving reporting DB to the cloud
    • Re-engineer our legacy ETL and data management layers to improve development efficiency
    • Migrate reporting DB to proper datawarehouse (Facts/Dimensions schema)
Core skills and experience required:The ideal candidate will have:
  • Proven track record of managing BI and reporting teams
  • Proven track record of architecting datawarehouse and ETL infrastructure
  • Proven technical knowledge in:
    • MySQL, MS SQL Server
    • Windows & Linux
    • BI DevOps tooling and processes
    • Python/Bash
    • Cloud DB as a service (e.g. Azure/AWS)
    • Qlikview, PowerBI
    • Understanding of modern cloud data architectures (e.g. Datalakes, databricks/data factory, data streaming, data pipelines etc.)
    • Desirable: experience with modern NoSQL tools (e.g. Mongo, Snowflake), Machine Learning, AI
  • Ability to work closely with dev and infrastructure tea,s
