Assistant Harvesting Manager Technique Recruitment Solutions are a specialist Engineering & Manufacturing recruitment company based in Norwich. We are working closely with our client on the outskirts of Norwich who have a new opportunity for an experienced Farm Manager to join their team Purpose of the RoleTo assist the Harvesting Manager in the process of field and plant preparation, including the provision of appropriate farm services on a planned process throughout the year; to deliver products in the best-possible quality and yield.Duties and Responsibilities:Health and Safety:Develop and actively promote a positive Health & Safety cultureEnsure that full safety checks are made on the field prior to operationEnsure machines are operated in compliance within company Health and Safety policiesIdentify any safety improvements within the department and escalate if necessaryAdhere to all health and safety requirements, at all timesFood Safety:Ensure all machinery is suitable to run within a food safe environment, prior to operationEnsuring the machines are operated in compliance within company Food Safety policiesAdhere to and ensure all staff adhere to Business Food Safety Standards at all timesEscalate any potential Food Safety issues immediatelyOperationsEnsure Harvesting site visits are carried out on a daily basisEnsure all required machines are fit for purpose, road legal where applicable and ready for operation / productionEnsure all legislative requirements, maximum permitted hours and "best practice" methods are adhered toEnsure that all harvesting sites remain clean and tidyPlan and coordination of field facilitiesManagementDeputise for the Harvest Manager when requiredSupporting the Harvesting Manager with the management of the Harvest Team LeadersCoordination of the field harvesting operations of the business, ensuring the highest possible yields are obtained whilst at the same time ensuring that customer specific quality requirements are metEnsure that all subordinates have been inducted and have had the appropriate level of training and supportManagement of a range of soft and stone fruit cropsAs required to support your teams in a hands-on capacity to the extent that your training permitsGeneralTo constantly seek ways to improve the businessTo carry out any other tasks that may from time to time be requested of you by Farm Management.To assist other departments of the business (e.g., husbandry, tunnels, irrigation, camp, engineering) where required using the farm operations resources at your disposal". "When assisting other departments to carryout tasks as per their requirementsThe successful candidate will be expected to work a variety of shift patterns, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and bank holidays during the peak fresh fruit season. This is a hands-on role and would suit someone with experience of managinglarge teams with great communication skills.Previous experience working with fresh produce or root vegetables is essential for this role.Due to rural location of Farm own transport is essential for this role
