Job Description

Strategic Development and ImplementationTechnician - 3D Art22.2 hours per week, 52 weeks per year£11,562 - £12,411 per annumCity College Norwich is currently recruiting for a part time Technician to join its highly skilled team supporting learning across the institution. Whilst primarily working in the 3D Art Workshop the successful applicant will be required to work across a range of roles, supporting other curriculum areas and events as necessary.Expert knowledge of artistic methods and equipment will be advantageous, and the successful applicant will ideally understand how to work safely with wood, metal, clay, plaster, resin and latex casting and other materials. Inks, glues and paints are all commonly in use and experience of kilns, framers and guillotines is desirable. The successful applicant would be expected to use a band saw, pillar drill and a wide range of tools/power tools. As well as using this equipment personally the technician will also be expected to induct staff and students into the safe use of tools and materials and to keep records of training and servicing.Technician work is varied and follows the changing needs of the curriculum, but a successful applicant would certainly be responsible for the following aspects.

  • Workplace Health and Safety including writing COSHH and Risk Assessments
  • Ordering and stocktaking supplies and equipment
  • Maintaining art rooms and equipment
  • Correct and safe disposal of waste materials
  • Preparing materials and rooms for art lessons
  • Support for events and shows
  • You will work closely with exceptional lecturers and will support staff from several courses within the college. You will be line managed by one of our two Technician Team Leaders, who look after Technicians and Technical Supervisors that work across a wide range of curriculum including Science, Sport & Leisure, Health & Care, Hair & Beauty, Hospitality & Catering, the Arts, Engineering, and Construction.
