Job Description

MTrec are currently recruiting for a renowned and respected manufacturing company based in the North Shields area. MTrec are currently looking for proactive individuals who are looking for a long term position.MTrec are currently looking for people to start within the next 7 working days, please do not apply if you are unable to start work within that period.The Role:

  • Operates single cut machine to cut glass.
  • Starts machine to verify setup.
  • Removes and replaces worn cutter heads, using hand tools.
  • Starts vacuum-cupped crane, to lift and transfer glass.
  • Adjusts timing mechanism, to synchronize breaker bar to snap glass at score.
  • Adjusts position, height, and stroke of cutting bridges, manually or by turning controls, to score glass to specific dimensions.
  • Measures glass with tape to verify dimensions and observes glass to detect defects.
  • Directs workers on cutting team
  • Cuts flat glass to specified size and shape, using patterns, straightedge, tape measure, and glass cutting tools: Positions pattern on glass or measures dimensions and marks cutting lines, using glass cutting tool.
  • Scribes around pattern or along straightedge, using cutting tool.
  • Breaks away excess glass by hand or with notched tool or glass pinchers.
  • May smooth rough edges, using belt sander
    • The Person:
  • Someone with a can do attitude
  • Must be flexible with shifts as will be expected to work overtime
  • Ideally experience glass cutting
  • Ideally experience using a crane (however training will be given)
