Senior DevOps Engineer Google Cloud Platform GCP

Job Description

Our Client are seeking a senior level DevOps Engineer to join a well-funded start-up culture and really move their greenfield roadmap forward at pace. They are looking for top talent to join their newly formed Digital Technology team, based in their North London HQ.They have recently moved away from a legacy infrastructure setup to the Google Cloud Platform, modern containers and true DevOps approach. They expect any applicants to have a strong background in using the technologies available on this platform as you will be tasked with leveraging Google Clouds best services to ensure complete observability and reliability within their infrastructure. You will be responsible for improving container tooling, scaling the cloud environment and providing an AWS backup to the current GCP environment.They are looking for a DevOps Engineer to help improve how they manage and roll-out their GCP environments (ingress, security, authentication), and to guide their current software deployment process towards a CI/CD strategy. Of particular interest is improving their deployment time of releases, whilst maintaining or reducing infrastructure costs.Personal Skills:*An ability to apply structured thinking, simplifying complex problems into component parts, to the resolution of project challenges.*Working practices; thorough with high standards of work.*Effective communication and interpersonal skills to be able to establish rapport with people at all levels.*An eye for detail and accuracy, and an affinity with design issues and the ability to help establish an own a vision for our solutions.*The ability to work in teams and knowledge of agile processes & ceremonies such as Scrum, SaFe and Kanban*Organizational ability and tenacity; able to think ahead in order to establish an efficient and appropriate course of action for self and others.*Take a proactive approach to work, good with handling uncertainty and can manage their work without close supervision.*A strong sense of ownership and a desire to deliver quality outcomes for the business.*Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.Technical Skills:*Cloud platform knowledge: GCP (Certification advantageous)*Broad understanding of GCP infrastructure services: GCE, GCS, KMS, VPC, Cloud Load Balancing, GKE, Stackdriver, IAM etc*Knowledge of administering and engineering of Linux and Windows*Development / scripting experience desirable: Python, Golang, Scala, Ruby*Data serialisation language: JSON, YAML*>3 years building, maintaining, upgrading, troubleshooting DevSecOps pipelines capable of scaling to deploy applications through test/dev to production*Demonstrable experience across as wide a range of DevOps tooling ideal:oCI - Jenkins/TeamCity/CircleCIoSCM - Bitbucket/Github/GitlaboCM - Chef/Puppet/AnsibleoIaC - Hashicorp Terraform/Google Deployment ManageroCD - Spinnaker/Octopus/BamboooSecOps - Twistlock/Aqua Security*Testing - JMeter/Cucumber*GCP Dev tools - Cloud Build, Cloud Source Repositories, Container Registry*Containerisation: Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, GKE, Istio, OpenShift*Documentation and Process: Jira, Confluence, Agile, Scrum Required skills
