Job Description

Supported Housing AssistantFixed Term (9 months)£23,743LondonOverall ResponsibilityTo provide a comprehensive high quality housing management service to all customers living in Metropolitan owned/managed supported accommodations including property health & safety checks and void inspections.To work in partnership with other teams within MTVH and external organisations providing support in MTVH properties.Key Responsibilities:

  • Give advice and practical assistance to customers in order to sustain their tenancies, including benefits, arrears, budgeting, utilities, personal and home safety and access to appropriate services.
  • Assist in the introduction of new tenants to their homes, conducting viewings, sign ups and new tenant visits where required
  • Assist with pre & post-court preparations including serving NOSP, court applications, court hearings, warrants and evictions.
  • Carry out quarterly property health and safety inspections in occupied and void properties. Ensure all repairs are logged on IT systems and followed up.
  • Support customers to reduce and manage incidences of anti-social behaviour. Report and act on ASB in line with policy and procedure.
  • Support customers to manage all aspects of successful tenancies. Tasks include;
  • Provide practical assistance and sign-posting to relevant services to assist with welfare reform/welfare benefits, budgeting and financial inclusion.
  • Provide advice on maintaining their home including damp/mould, energy efficiency, fire safety, personal and home safety, use of equipment and repairs ordering.
  • Support customers to use local services and facilities, including access to health services, education and work opportunities, community integration and access other relevant services to achieve personal goals
  • Provide accurate administration and ensure that comprehensive records are kept and maintained
  • Use IT systems to update case notes and monitor tenancies
  • Provide good written communications including letters to customers
  • To attend customer/house meetings and community safety meetings and provide written and verbal reports as required
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders

Skills/Experience/Knowledge:
  • Experience of working in housing management
  • Knowledge and understanding of Housing legislation, process and systems including arrears and court process.
  • Understanding of the issues relating to working with vulnerable customer groups including vulnerable (eg. people with mental health conditions/learning disabilities/older people).
  • Working knowledge of welfare benefits systems.
  • Good IT literacy skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Working knowledge and proven experience of health & safety compliance, issues relating to property management.
    • Working knowledge of safeguarding frameworks applicable to vulnerable individuals and families.
    • Good planning, organising, prioritisation and administration skills
