JOB TITLE: Structural Engineer REPORTS TO: Principal Structural EngineerDIRECT REPORTS: NAOVERALL OBJECTIVE:* To design steelwork structures for the company, utilising their portfolio of products and facilities* To aid the sales team with technical enquiries and assessing structural feasibility of enquiries* To assist the drawing office interpreting the designs to make sure they are correct and that key concepts are understood* To provide design assistance for the development of new products and design softwareMAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:* To liaise with customers to establish the design requirements and completing the design in accordance with relevant codes and regulations, as well as the company quality standards* To issue completed designs and risk assessments in a timely manner, as well as having drawings checked to ensure design compliance* To cooperate with the sales team and customers to resolve any design queries* To contribute to the development of standard details to ensure they are robust, accurately drawn and can be readily fabricated to a high quality* To review designs alongside the Quality Manager where production problems are highlighted* To assist in the development and updating of company products, design templates and the companys design software* To attend project meetings and communicate relevant information to multiple teams, including the drawing office and quality managers* To ensure knowledge and skills are maintained and enhanced through continued professional development* To assist with any other line of work that could be reasonably expected from an employee in such a position, including attendance at internal and external meetings as required. In addition to this, all members of staff are required to act in a professional and courteous manner at all times, and in accordance with company policy and procedures, to ensure high levels of customer service are achieved.ESSENTIAL CRITERIA & QUALFICATIONS:1. Technical competency and knowledge * Quality Assurance: Demonstrates an understanding quality standards, policies and procedures* Customer focus: Has clear focus on the needs of the companys clients* Commercial Awareness: Can demonstrate a good understanding of metal fabrication and construction* Commitment to process and results: Demonstrates a desire to implement improvements to existing products and software* Experience using AutoCAD* Team working: Demonstrates an ability to work as an active and constructive member of the team* HSE: Demonstrates understanding, awareness and compliance of all health and safety policies and procedures* Communication: Confident in communicating with the wider team regarding design and customer requirements2. Prior experience* 3-5 years in a similar role * Prior experience of working within an engineering office* Experience of assuring the quality of product and design meet company standards3. Personal Attributes * Has customer focus and product passion* Has the ability to meet company targets and expectations* Confident communicator and the ability to manage a project* The ability to self-manage and ensure tasks are completed in good time4.
