Job Description

Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to announce a fantastic opportunity for a full-time Science Teacher, to start in June 2023 and lasting until at least Christmas 2023. The position is a maternity cover contract for an excellent school situated in Pocklington,with Key Stage 5 teaching hours on offer for a suitable candidate.As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Preparing and delivering engaging and informative lessons to students aged 11-18
  • Creating and marking assessments, tests and exams
  • Providing feedback to students on their progress and encouraging them to reach their full potential
  • Developing and updating schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum standards
  • Providing support to students who may require additional help
  • Liaising with parents and other teachers to provide regular updates on student progress
  • Participating in school events and extracurricular activities as required
The ideal candidate will have the following requirements:
  • A degree in Science or a related subject
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching Science in a secondary school setting
  • Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to students of all abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and school staff
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and improving teaching practice
The school is situated in a lovely setting with fantastic school grounds and is part of a small yet excellent academy trust. The school has a strong bank of resources available for the suitable candidate. While the ideal candidate would be a Biology Teacher,any discipline of Science will be considered as there is potential to move the timetable around.
