Residential Childrens WorkerPocklington / Anlaby / Driffield / Bridlington£12.50PHAkton Recruitment are currently working with the Local Authorities to recruit a number of Residential Childrens Workers. We have homes in four locations across east riding of yorkshire and you would be based at a single home, closest to you. These are fulltime positions which will include some evening and weekend work.You will be expected to provide the day to day care to young people. Support them with daily tasks such as attending education, doing activities. Attending meetings and writing reports.1 To contribute to the normal development of the children and young people throughthe provision of a healthy lifestyle, a variety of appropriate stimulating activities and a consistent and caring adult role model.2 To ensure children and young people are cared for in such a way as to maximise choice, dignity and individuality.To be alert to signs of distress or abuse, and to ensure that the children and young people are monitored and protected both within and outside the home.3 To be sensitive to the needs of individual children, taking account of race, culture, language, religion.4 To practice in accordance with the Councils Equal Opportunities Policy and Procedures.5 To talk and listen to children, and to observe their behaviour, and record significant features.6 To contribute to care planning, participating in reviews and other meetings as required, and to assist in the implementation of care plans. Not relevant to this post7 To provide additional support and comfort to children under stress.8 To set boundaries for children to control their behaviour where appropriate which may include physical restraint.9 To provide for childrens physical needs as necessary, for example, by cooking, washing, ironing, shopping, bathing, cleaning, budgeting or by enabling children to carry out such tasks for themselves.10 To provide support and assistance to young people preparing to live independently.11 To liaise with Health, Education and other agency staff to ensure the needs of children and young people are addressed and met.12 To administer, monitor and record the taking of prescribed medication.13 Prepares, implements and reviews programmes for individual childrens care and development (including physical and personal care, assisting children moving towards independent living, and work with families/carers of children in residential care).14 Undertakes administrative tasks associated with these duties, including the preparation of information for management and quality assurance systems, and where necessary the detailed recording of events within the home.15 Performs other duties, which reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.
