Job Description

[Senior] Electrical Design Engineer - Building ServicesDOE + benefitsYorkshire & HumberOur client is a national contractor who provides EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) services to the rail infrastructure and engineering sectors (mechanical handling, bulk storage, bridges, marine and ports, highways and transportation, utilities, professionalservices, and nuclear). As a result of their continuing success, they are looking to add talented and highly motivated Design Engineer for their Electrical Building Service sector to join their excellent, expanding business.As part of this team you will be responsible for effectively drafting and calculating bespoke Electrical packages that are cost-effective, safe and compliant with current industry standards. Projects will be delivered through multiple sectors including,commercial, industrial, energy, transport and in particular the Railway industry. Key Accountabilities:

  • Receive the Clients brief, formulate the scope of works and develop the design philosophy.
  • Provide best value working design solutions to technical problems.
  • Knowledge of the electronic design packages available including AutoCAD and Hevacomp. (Use of Revit or Bentley (AecoSIM) Open Buildings designer for 3D modelling and Building Information Management systems such as Projectwise is beneficial but not essential).
  • Able to undertake calculations by hand.
  • Knowledge of the current standards for the electrical building services systems.
  • Able to efficiently use AutoCAD 2D. (Use of Revit or Bentley (AecoSIM) Open Buildings designer for 3D modelling and Building Information Management systems such as Projectwise is beneficial but not essential).
  • Working knowledge of Statutory Regulations and Codes of Practice.
  • Able to produce Designers Risk Assessments for projects.
  • A working knowledge of low energy technologies and requirements of Building Regulations.
  • Undertake site surveys and compile reports as many projects will be integrated with existing buildings / infrastructure.
  • Effective collaboration between project teams.
