Salary Range: £48,447 - £54,525 per annumWork Location: Castle Hill, WinchesterHours per week: 37Contract Type: PermanentInterview Date: 3 September 2021Closing Date: 15 August 2021We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our team, workingwith us to realise our vision of Hampshire, Southampton and Portsmouth Coroner Service being recognised regionally and nationally as a cost-effective centre of excellence in modern coronial practice.Coroners are independent judicial officers who are responsiblefor investigating violent, unnatural or sudden deaths. Their role is to establish who died, how, when and where. Coroners have a duty to investigate the death and, if necessary, hold an inquest. To support this important judicial function Coroners have a teamof support staff including Coroners Officers, Court Officers and admin support. The roleWe are looking for an individual with extensive leadership experience and a comprehensive understanding of coronial services to provide management and direction to theCoroners Service support service. You will need to demonstrate a strong track record of experience in a relevant role, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and motivate a large workforce. The post holder will be responsible for a team ofaround 30 people based across two locations in Winchester and Portsmouth. This team supports the work of a Senior Coroner, two Area Coroners and a number of Assistant Coroners. Hampshire, Portsmouth and Southampton Coroners Service is one of the largest jurisdictionsin the country with c7000 referrals a year, c700 of these referrals result in an Inquest. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Strategic and Operational Manager to help shape the future of the Coroners Service in Hampshire.
