Job Description

Position:Director, Equity and BelongingLocation: Durham, NCJob Id:DEI-01# of Openings:1Director, Equity and Belonging (Washington, DC; Durham, NC; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; or San Francisco, CA)Arabella Advisors is seeking a mission-driven professional with a passion for creating a workplace culture and experience that is energized, engaged, empathetic, and equitable, where everyone feels like they truly belong. This new position at Arabella isan exciting opportunity for someone to shape equity and belonging work at Arabella and within the social sector. Reporting to the Chief People and Equity Officer, this position will support the implementation of firm-wide strategies to continuously advanceequity and belonging across Arabella.The Director of Equity and Belonging will work collaboratively with the Equity and Belonging team and leaders across the firm to operationalize Arabella’s equity and belonging theory of change at the team level, partner with the Chief People and Equity officerand the People Team in setting and implementing firmwide equity and belonging strategic priorities, facilitate firmwide employee engagement initiatives, and supervise the Equity and Belonging Program Manager.This role will require someone who has a deep commitment to both individual and collective employee satisfaction, be well versed in creating and delivering equity and belonging related trainings, is a masterful facilitator, coach, communicator, and truth-teller.They should be excited about the complexity and ambiguity that comes from juggling multiple projects, walking alongside people in their lived experience at Arabella, and working across teams, projects, and personalities on a regular basis. This person musthave a passion for supporting Arabella’s dynamic culture, building inclusive communities, and modeling how to live into Arabella’s values of being bold, finding a way, creating together, and doing good better.Employee Engagement and Internal Communications Strategy (40%)

  • Design, implement, and oversee a best-in-class employee engagement strategy and tactics that support Arabella’s organizational goals and priorities, including retention efforts as well as equity belonging work firm-wide
  • Create and manage a feedback infrastructure (process, tools, and forums) that measures and communicates employee satisfaction, engagement, morale, and overall experience to all relevant stakeholders
  • Engage all levels of Arabella employees to serve as a trusted advisor and liaison who has a clear understanding of the needs and tensions of multiple internal stakeholder groups
  • Liaise between Equity and Belonging team, People team, and lines of business to ensure that employee engagement is being appropriately measured and communicated, with the express responsibility of supporting the organization in being accountable to obtainingemployee engagement goals by making real-time adjustments as needed
  • Manage projects, including working with and delegating to both junior and senior staff in a matrixed organizational structure
  • Implement the core activities of employee engagement and belonging workstreams which will include conducting research and interviews, collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, creating hypotheses to be tested, facilitating learning andcollaboration among diverse stakeholders, and developing high-quality reports and presentations
  • Model how to embody a workplace culture that is inclusive, empathetic, and produces equitable outcomes by valuing everyone’s voice, delegating effectively to project team members, and providing support and training to help team members develop their skillsand talent
  • Contribute meaningfully to internal communications efforts where all-staff or broad stakeholder groups are the audience(s) by providing or advising on content that is inclusive, relevant, and supports the employee engagement strategy
Facilitation and Resource Development (25%)
  • Implement a vision for and support the success of all formal and informal internal working groups (including planning and facilitating meetings of the Employee Experience Council, the Employee Resource Group Co-Leads working group, and the Executive Sponsorworking group)
  • Partner with the Chief People and Equity Officer to design and deliver trainings, facilitate discussions, and provide individual coaching and internal and external resources that will lead to a more inclusive and equitable internal culture where everyonefeels they belong
  • Create real-time tools and resources that support the organization and employees in embedding and operationalizing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging best practices into everything that we do.
  • Participate in and support Arabella’s other equity and belonging capacity building initiatives as needed
Team-Level Support (15%)
  • Meet regularly with team leads to develop, support, and assess their progress towards their team-wide equity and belonging initiatives
  • Provide resources and trainings to specific teams on topics at the intersection of equity and belonging and their line of business
  • Share feedback from employees, the Employee Experience Council, and the Employee Resource Groups, on how team leaders could better support equity and belonging goals
People and Team Management (15%)
  • Supervise and support the development and growth of the Equity and Belonging Program Manager
  • Lead the development and implementation of annual Equity and Belonging team goals and accountability mechanisms
Other Projects as Assigned (5%)
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay on top of the ever-evolving employee engagement and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging field to ensure learnings are coming back into the organization
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and management of key components of the team’s or firm’s strategic plan, annual objectives, and key business performance metrics
  • Contribute to professional growth and satisfaction of junior staff by providing appropriate direction, support, guidance and mentorship
  • Develop and share relevant skills and issue-area expertise
