Job Description

Recruiting for a part-time Recovery Navigator to work across NorthumbriaThe successful candidate will have a regional office location but will be expected to travel to other sites across region(s).Ingeus Dependency and Recovery services are tailored to the assessed individual needs of 18+ Male Service Users on community orders and post-release licences as part of the community Probation system.Recovery Navigators provide intensive wrap around support to all Service Users on a one-to-one basis. Recovery Navigators work in an outcome focused environment which is achieved by bespoke case management, one-to-one support to assess health and lifestylerisks, building trust and undertaking activities and interventions delivered face-to-face. Recovery Navigators motivate Service Users to successfully understand and manage their dependency and recovery needs, to develop skills to change to a healthier lifestyleand to support engagement with treatment services. They will support Service Users in maintaining their motivation to change and engagement with their probation supervision. Recovery Navigators will work in partnership with Humankind Senior Recovery Navigators,Human Kind Recovery Navigators/Co-ordinators, Recovery Guides, Recovery Champions (Peer Mentors), Team Managers, NPS Responsible Officers, IOMU and community support services.Duties

  • Hold the professional relationship with the Responsible Probation Officer (RO) to support Service Users (SU) through one-to-one and group interventions.
  • Hold 1-2-1 relationship with allocated Service User and single case-holder for continuity of contact.
  • Work closely with the Recovery Guides and Recovery Champions and IOMU.
  • Conduct an initial assessment with all referred Service Users to assess the appropriate level of support required for their personal wellbeing journey.
  • Prepare and agree individual action plans, following initial assessment, and regularly review progress with the SU.
  • Work with Service Users of varying complexity of need and across each Complexity Level (as applicable)
  • Proactively manage a caseload of Service Users, across low, medium and high levels of need and complexity, in line with the information contained within the Referral provided by the RO.
  • Delivery of 1-2-1 / group interventions and skills training to Service Users to meet identified need(s) to a high-quality standard.
  • Provide support and advocacy and information, advice and guidance to address need(s).
  • Deliver in a variety of venues including Ingeus community venues, probation offices and police stations.
  • Communication with PP/Treatment Services
  • Signpost and Support Service Users to engage with mainstream services to provide ongoing support.
  • Work alongside integrated specialist support partners Humankind to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Refer Service Users to appropriate agencies as required and liaise with those specialists in order to monitor progress made.
  • Understand risk assessment, as compatible with role and grading, and to ensure appropriate consideration of risk when placing service users into mainstream provision.
  • Achieve outcomes in accordance with contractual KPIs and the Performance Management Framework.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Dependency & Recovery
  • Be alert and responsive to behaviour, information or changes which could indicate a change in risk of serious harm.
  • Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour (including Unacceptable Behaviour) in order to de-escalate tension, to enable Service User to manage strong feelings and to ensure their own safety and that of others.
  • Record contact and progress on approved systems and report back to Responsible Officers and Recovery Navigators.
  • Working closely with the RO contribute to sentence/risk management plans and reviews and contribute to case conferences such as MAPPA where appropriate.
  • Develop effective relationships with all relevant agencies; be aware of referral routes and actively promote good partnerships and effective joint working. Maintain positive and professional working relationships with all those working in the probationsystem.
  • Undertake any other duties which fall reasonably within the nature, grade and responsibilities of the post.
Essential
  • Experience of working successfully with vulnerable, challenging people, for example people who have complex needs, people who are reluctant to discuss their needs, and people who are angry and confused.
  • Ability to navigating a complex landscape of dependency and recovery support services.
  • Ability to deliver short and tailored interventions to address barriers within a given timeframe.
Desirable
  • Lived Experience to engage/re-engage Service User.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and legislation in relation to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
  • Knowledge of national and local initiatives in relation to dependency & recovery.
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment and developing partnerships.
  • Ability to drive and own a car as travel will be required.
  • ICT literate.
