Job Description

Coastal Maintenance Manager - North & EastHome Based - Predominantly covering Berwick-upon-Tweed to HumberAbout usOur purpose is simple, to save lives at sea. Since the 19th century, our crews have been risking their lives to save those who are in danger of drowning.Were looking for a Coastal Maintenance Manager to join our In-Service Support team. The Coastal Maintenance Manager supports the RNLI through the delivery of maintenance, repairs and modifications to the RNLI Fleet of boats and equipment to ensure 24hrs availabilityat point of use.This role is Home Based - predominantly covering Berwick-upon-Tweed to Humber however, travel throughout the North and East region and the UK will be required.Some of the benefits- £37,642 - £44,285 (dependent on experience)- Flexible working- Company car/van- 26 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays- Outstanding pension scheme (contributions of up to 16% of basic salary)- Life assurance- Health and dental cash planYour RoleAs a Coastal Maintenance Manager, you will be tasked with focus on the following areas:- Responsible for the safe, efficient and effective delivery of coastal maintenance across the region on accordance with RNLI policies, standards and external legislation.- Manage preventative, corrective repairs and modifications of RNLI plant and equipment carried out either on station or at an appropriate contractors facility and ensure that the appropriate records are completed in accordance with current procedures.- Line manage a team of specialist technicians and engineers, prioritising and managing the workload of these staff.- To control, manage and be responsible for budgets/finances associated with the repair and maintenance of plant for the region.About YouYoull be an effective team player, with good people skills that welcomes responsibility. You will be someone who works well under pressure whilst planning, co-ordinating and reporting. You will be prepared to meet stretched targets and have sound financialawareness. You must also be prepared to travel as part of the role including evenings away from home.To be considered as the Coastal Maintenance Manager you will need:- HNC/D or equivalent experience and a time-served apprenticeship in a technical discipline and vocational level 4 or equivalent in Management.- Excellent Communication skills, verbal and written.- Proven experience of delivering solutions on time and within budget.- Experience of Performance & Development target setting and review (RNLIs RADAR process or equivalent).- Experience of using Microsoft AX (or equivalent).- Experience of equipment maintenance and repair within both the Lifeboat and Lifeguard areas- Experience of working with other stakeholders (internal or external).- Demonstrate an understanding of the RNLIs Relief Fleet and its roleSo, if you consider yourself to be an experienced engineering manager, with a passion to ensure our fleet of boats and equipment are always maintained to a high standard , then please apply via the button shownThis post requires a valid driving licence.As this is a sea-going appointment, you will need to satisfy the institutions medical and eyesight standards.SafeguardingThe RNLI is committed to safeguarding; ensuring the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk.
