£24,780 per annum for 36 hours per week based at Ashford Library, Church Road, Ashford, Surrey, TW15 2XB.Branch Managers, while largely based in their main library will be expected to work at other libraries as required, most usually within the librariesin the Staines area. The libraries that comprise this group are: Ashford, Chertsey, Egham, Shepperton, Staines, Stanwell, and Sunbury.You can find out more information about our libraries on our website.Surrey is one of the largest county councils in the UKand has over 50 libraries across the county. Our library teams deliver a range of services to all members of the public. Times have changed from when all that libraries offered was to lend books and access to a reference collection. Pre-Covid, Branch Managerswould ensure that branches supported a range of online reference resources, hold computer classes, Rhymetimes and Storytimes and various other events such as Minecraft sessions and Code Clubs. We also offered a range of services including library servicesfor the elderly or disabled. We aim to deliver these services again as Covid restrictions ease.We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic person to supervise and deliver a modern public library service to those who live, work or study in Surrey. In thisrole you will deliver a service to all ages and backgrounds with a local focus, providing excellent customer service. You will develop an understanding of local communities and be able to build partnerships with staff, volunteers and key stakeholders. Youwill also contribute to library service objectives by supervising day to day transactions and be responsible for the delivery of the library programme in your library. You will make a direct impact on the lives of residents by providing them books and informationto learn and progress in a safe environment and contribute towards their health and wellbeing through engagement and participation in cultural activities.You will be responsible for day to day operations and development of front-line services and be able tolead and deploy a team of staff and volunteers to deliver excellent services across a number of libraries.This is a customer facing role that requires proactiveness, a positive attitude and resilience to be able to deal with a range of tasks in a busy environment.You will be able to demonstrate model behaviour at all times when dealing with staff, customers and stakeholders.You will be required to work flexibly to meet the library opening hours which includes evenings and weekends. You may be required to work aloneat times.
