Springer Healthcare are looking for an Associate Editor in the Chester office to work as part of the Adis Rapid+ Journal Publishing team, who are responsiblefor publishing a portfolio of clinically focused medical journals.The Associate Editor will primarily be accountable for managing and growing the journal portfolio in their allocated therapeutic area/s by commissioning topical content which can fulfill anunmet educational need, soliciting original research articles and digital content, business development activities with the pharmaceutical industry, and building relationships with Editorial Board members and authors. Main Duties Work with the Editorial Boardto develop a commissioning plan detailing topical areas of interest on which to publish relevant content and recruit appropriate authors Meet targets for commissioned content by working with authors, pharmaceutical clients and the Journal Publishing team Managecopy flow, development and finances for journal/s to ensure timely publication of targeted number of articles and to meet revenue targets Business development activities to create and maintain relationships with clients and authors in order to solicit originalresearch and digital content Research and collate information on products and companies in own therapeutic areas Be required to undergo International and European travel to attend international therapy area conferences Ensure growth of the journal portfolioby playing an integral part in the development of allocated therapeutic area/s and using creative and innovative ideas to support revenue growth Engage and expand Editorial and Advisory boards Mentor and train Editorial Assistants and work closely with themand the wider team to ensure smooth and timely processes Management of ad-hoc journal-related projects, as advised by Senior Editor Person SpecificationEssential A biomedical BSc/postgraduate degree or equivalent experience Proven experience of reading andevaluating the content of scientific journal publications Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the drug lifecycle Previous experience in a publishing house, medical communication agency or pharmaceutical company, or similar Experience of relationshipmanagement with internal staff and external clients and business development skills Project management experience Good follow-up skills with the ability to proactively identify and address problems quickly and independently Excellent oral and written communicationskills Ability to use initiative and work to deadlines Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Pro-active, resourceful and a good team playerTo apply: Please include a CV and covering letter outlining your reasons for applying as well as yoursalary expectations and notice period.
