Summary Are you an up and coming horticulturist or plants-person looking for your next major challenge Do you want to learn how to care for a diverse range of plants, both hardy and tender from rhododendrons to tree ferns Then working as part of dedicated projectteam responsible for the development of new standards of presentation and care across our various woodland gardens at Mount Stewart, will meet your career plans and take your plant knowledge to the next level! What its like to work here The garden at Mount Stewart is looked after by a group of highly skilled horticulturist who care for large areas of the garden. We are passionate about what we do, but we also like to have fun. We a friendly team supported by our amazing garden volunteers,but now many of our woodland areas are now in need of a refresh. This is more than we can cope with, so we are setting up a dedicated team to meet this challenge head on. What youll be doing As a hands-on Gardener, youll assist in making sure that the woodland gardens are maintained to a high standard. Youll be passionate and enthused and knowledgeable about the varied plants within the garden. This role will include a range of practical horticulturaltasks to develop, enhance and conserve the garden and contribute to the delivery of our Garden Recovery Project. Youll also be helping with the general maintenance of the garden, such as mulching, pruning, leaf clearing and weeding. Youll support with theplanting and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants.Youll also support garden volunteers and help them to make the most of their time here. • Trained as a professional gardener/horticulturalist with a good level of practical experience.

• RHS Level 2 or equivalent.

• Have proven practical gardening/horticulture experience, as well as a strong knowledge of plants

• Confidence to participate in garden activities and events

• Competence with machinery/equipment use and maintenance; including tractors, chainsaws, and pedestrian mowers with accreditation as required for Health and Safety compliance.
