Job Description

Join the team at Reene Court in Newport as a Support Service Manager/Head Chef. You will lead, manage and be responsible for the operations of support services which includes catering, housekeeping, and maintenance. You will get to cook breakfast, lunchand dinner for staff and service users. You will also be required to provide guidance and training to your peers.The role also includes being an active member of the Senior Management Team reporting directly to the Registered Manager.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Co-ordinates Health & Safety for the hospital reporting directly to the Registered Manager.
  • Feeds back to SMT, CG and H&S meetings.
  • Provide strong and robust leadership within support services teams.
  • Management of budgets within the support services teams.
  • Ensure up to date awareness regarding best practice within the domains of catering, housekeeping, and maintenance.
  • Works in a way that complies with legislation and organisational policies and procedures on health, safety, and risk management.
  • Maintain the highest standards of integrity when communicating with staff, patients, family, carers, and other professionals.
  • To ensure that food preparation meets all Food Hygiene standards.
  • Manage all stocks and stores ensuring all food is correctly marked and correct stock rotation systems are in place to comply with Food Hygiene Regulations and Company policies.
  • To develop and maintain good relationships with the residents, relatives and staff through regular contact giving information, support and advice whenever and as often as required.
  • To maintain concise records and provide reports, as necessary.
  • To ensure that the heavy-duty kitchen equipment, light equipment, work areas, other facilities and general surroundings are maintained and operate to the standards required by Statutory Bodies, Local Authority, Health andSafety, FoodHygiene Regulationsand Company’s policies.
  • To ensure that safe methods of work are used at all times and that no unauthorised person cleans/operates certain specified equipment.
  • Complete menus that cater for all dietary requirements.
  • Updating of the rolling rota.
