COVID-19Here at The BBI Group, we are seeking individuals to support our work as part the UK-Rapid Test Consortium, tasked with developing and manufacturing a Covid-19 Point of Care antibody testThis test would be used by people in their homes to determine if they have an antibody response to COVID-19, which would confirm previous infection.   • The RoleAs a Shift Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the mechanical and electrical maintenance of plant and production equipment. Your primary focus will be to act as the service provider to manufacturing teams and equipment.You will be required to support project and continuous improvement activities related to engineering activities, and assist in conjunction with others, the optimisation of the manufacturing and facilities equipment & systems to meet the standards of service and quality required by BBI and our customers.Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to;
  • To be responsible for both mechanical and electrical engineering maintenance issues across the facility.
  • Undertake planned maintenance, breakdown repair and condition monitoring activities of plant and equipment.
  • Report to operations staff on status of machine breakdowns.
  • Assist with the delivery of departmental based projects.
  • Attend and contribute to regular team meetings
  • Proactively identify and implement improvements to operational machine and resource efficiencies whilst considering the impact on other departments.
  • Promoting a continuous improvement culture within the department and within the manufacturing area’s
  • Work in conjunction with Operations staff on daily operational engineering related issues and continuous improvement teams.
  • Manage sub-contractors as required.
  • Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems
  • Responsible for ensuring that a clean, tidy and hazard free working environment is maintained to defined standards
  • Provide support for out of hours production activities and response to alarms
  • RequirementsTo be successful in your application you will need an NVQ Level 3 engineering qualification (or equivalent), preferably in both electrical and mechanical disciplines. Experience in a similar environment and knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma techniques would be advantageous.If you are an internal employee applying for this vacancy you and your manager are required to complete an internal transfer form.
