Job Description

Platform Resourcing are recruiting for a permanent SHEQ Advisor in Newport South Wales.You will be based in Newport, but you will need to infrequently visit other sites to conduct incident/ accident reports when needed.Benefits:

Role and responsibilities:
  • Develop procedures to ensure health, safety of all employees, contractors and visitors to the company.
  • Maintain source of advice and guidance to all staff operating within business, supporting managers on health and safety matters.
  • Monitor operations, processes and producers to ensure they comply with H & S regulation.
  • Investigate and report on accidents, and make recommendations to MD.
  • Work with yard / depot manager to ensure compliance with H & S regulations.
  • Maintain good working relations with insurers and other relevant authorities to ensure companies interests are safeguarded and safe and healthy working environment is maintained.
  • Advise on training for managers and staff to ensure compliance with H & S requirements.
  • Maintain an awareness of developments in field of health and safety to ensure that the company continues to comply with best practice and legal requirements.
  • Assist in the management of the Dont Walk By system by monitoring and maintaining the database, preparing meetings, choosing winners at random and sending to the SHEQ team for month end report.
  • Positively promote the near miss reporting utilising Dont Walk By methodology.
  • Managing and reviewing the Safety Cloud for the Asset Newport including LOLER.
  • Environmental monitoring and ensuring compliance throughout the business.
  • Conducting inspections and audits as required by the business. SWP/Site Audits/Rams/Compliance
  • Attending meetings with supply chains on behalf of the business
  • Positively promote the safety culture with all staff.
  • Produce safety alerts/toolbox talks and monitor the responses.
  • Irregular travel to other departments of the VSG group working with other SHEQ advisors across multiple sites
  • Working with the operatives to gain product knowledge
Essential Experience:
  • 3 years health and safety experience
  • Auditing experience
  • Accident/ Incident reporting and investigation experience
  • Collating reports and producing reporting findings
  • Experience and understanding of ISO 9001/ 14001/ 45001
  • Lifting/ Manual Handling training experience desirable
  • Proficient with Microsoft programs
Qualifications
  • Tech ISOH (minimum)/ NEBOSH - or currently working towards these qualifications
  • CSCS card
