Role: Senior Verification Engineer Location: Newport (onsite)Rate: up to £400 per day LTDSector: Defence and AerospaceSC Security Clearance required BEFORE submissionThe Senior Verification Engineer is responsible for executing allocated Verification Work Packages within agreed cost, time and quality constraints.The Senior Verification Engineer is responsible for demonstrating that the developed product meets all specified legislative and customer requirements, by*specifying and implementing the test solution*improving efficiency of testing but implementing Automated Test solution where practicable*performing in-house and/or external testing*adequately documenting the tests and test results*controlling and reviewing work of the members of their team (where a team exists) The Senior Verification Engineer is an acknowledged company expert in at least one aspect of testing, and is required to apply this expertise across more than one project at a time.The role will form the primary point of contact for project verification and validation for both the internal and external project teams and will include significant amounts of customer contact.Essential Skills and Experience:*Must have UK SC clearance*Must be a very experienced engineer, fully versed in test methodologies for their field, able to work within a team made up of different engineering disciplines effectively and collaboratively*Must have automation testing experience utilising one or more of the following:oPythonoC#oGherkinoCucumber*Must have experience of working within a DevOps environment*Must be familiar with test, integration, verification and validation methods for software and hardware product development*Must be highly self motivated, articulate, with good verbal and written communications skills*Must have a good understanding of requirements capture, and of work package definition and estimationDesirable Skills and Experience:*Experience working in Agile or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) teams*Experience of agile/DevOps tools such as Jira, Confluence and Git*CCNA standard experience and working knowledge of network configuration and operation*Working knowledge of some or all of the following: oCryptographic Key Management and Distribution SystemsoCryptographic DevicesoSecure Communications SystemsoSecure Communications Network DevicesoWindows hosted software applicationsoEmbedded software applicationsoCE approval of equipmentoTCP/IP network configuration and testoIntegration/test of database systems (e.g. Oracle/SQL)oTest script/software development (Windows and Unix environments)oBlack box software testingoEMC, Safety, Environmental, TEMPEST qualification testing*Experience of product V&V to achieve UK approved cryptographic/TEMPEST standardsYou must ensure:*Technical leadership is provided to the project V&V team and across other relevant CyberSecurity projects in the job holders specialised area of expertise.*Allocated Work Packages are completed by the job holder and their team to company standards, within agreed cost, time and quality constraints.*Test and verification plans, specifications, procedures, schedules and reports are produced, demonstrating adequate test coverage. These documents are agreed with, and supported by, project management, the technical team and the customer, as required. The customer is kept informed and kept "on side" regarding all project related test and verification matters.*Appropriate tools and techniques, particularly Automation tools and procedures are selected and used to test and integrate equipment to company standards and to customer specifications. Where required, Special to Type Test Equipment (hardware and/or software) is developed in accordance with company standards.*Team members receive technical guidance in tools and techniques used for Verification and Validation work. *The stakeholders in the project are provided with a primary point of contact through which all Verification and Validation decisions will be authorised.*Success of both internal and external design reviews and project reviews throughout the development life cycle.*Customer confidence in company products and Verification and Validation methods, by acting as the projects customer contact for all Verification and Validation technical matters.*Continuous improvement of Verification and Validation engineering processes by actively monitoring and influencing industry test engineering developments/issues and collaborating with the Functional Manager to improve processes.*Career development of both the job holder and their team members (if any), by agreeing challenging and business focused objectives as part of the annual appraisal process.
