Job Description

Senior Power Electronics EngineerNewportup to 62kPermanentFull timeAre you a qualified power electronics engineer Do you want the challenge of working for a growing business Then this role might just be for you!In this role, you will take responsibility and lead younger engineers to develop and design the newest power electronics innovations. This role enables you to use your creativity and knowledge to create something great!Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering work package owner responsible for carrying out a range of engineering activities whilst coordinating junior engineers and technicians.
  • Translate basic specifications into circuit topologies that optimise converter power efficiency and power density to demonstrate the benefits of using SiC and GaN devices.
  • Assess candidate power conversion topologies using circuit modelling and simulation.
  • Assess PCB designs to optimise electromagnetic and thermal performance.
  • Support the activities of the power electronics team as well as collaborate with the other engineering functions of Advanced Packaging, RF/Microwave and Photonics to deliver cross-functional projects.
Who are we looking for
  • Masters degree/PhD level qualification within power electronics
  • Power electronics engineering industry experience with proven ability to deliver power converters/motor drive systems projects/work packages
  • Experience in multi-discipline engineering activities including package / PCB / mechanical and software design
