BackgroundA team that is focused on developing and improving analytical methods for the safeguarding of public health through the provision of clean safe drinking water that earns and maintains the trust of our customers every day.Your ideas are listened to and valued, you will be working closely with the Chemistry Laboratory Teams along with other internal and external stakeholders.Our goal is to develop methods for emerging contaminants that ensures the companys regulatory responsibilities with regards to drinking water quality are met and risk to the business is managed effectively.Responsibilities- Acting as technical lead for the identification and development of new Organic Chemistry methods and processes along with the selection and purchase of new analytical instrumentation.- Providing technical support and advice on matters related to Organic Chemistry analytical testing to relevant stakeholders.- Providing technical training and development of new Analytical Services staff in the field of Organic Chemistry.- Troubleshooting complex problems associated with Organic Chemistry.- Assisting the Chemistry Laboratory Department Manager in applying analytical best practice and interpretation of results.- Representing Welsh Water on relevant internal and external technical forums, e.g., SCA Steering Group.- Keeping up to date with current techniques, topics, and legislation in order to advise on accurate implementation of their requirements.Requirements- Qualified to degree level in a relevant scientific subject (equivalent relevant experience may be considered as an alternative to formal qualifications).- Previous relevant experience in working within a UKAS accredited laboratory.- Experience of developing and validating organic chemistry methods.- Relevant experience of instrument and method troubleshooting.- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.- Excellent communication and relationship building skills.- Enthusiastic about putting our customers first.- Good understanding and experience of computer packages including LIMS packages used for laboratory reporting.
