Job Description

Mech tech Professionals is actively supporting our niche client with their requirement for a part time Occupational Health Nurse for our niche manufacturer in NewportOur client is a global manufacturer with nearly 15,000 employees worldwide and 1300 across the UK. They are looking to hire an Occupational Health nurse to join their facilities team on a part time basis at 2/3 days per week due to the expansion of theirsite. These days include Wednesday Thursday Friday (week 1) and Thursday Friday (week 2) As an Occupational Health nurse you will support the needs of the business whilst carrying out and monitoring medical records for our busy and expanding manufacturingworkforce!What you will do

  • Supporting business needs through the provision of an efficient and effective occupational health service.
  • Carrying out and monitoring compliance medicals, including Breathing Apparatus, Fork Lift Truck, Night Workers, health surveillance (arsenic & radiation) etc.
  • Carrying out baseline medical screening in line with recruitment and selection requirements, liaising with the HR department as necessary.
  • Undertaking absence medicals at the request of the Company / management, including return to work medicals, assessing employees and advising management.
  • Maintaining medical records, and preparing employee statistics, analysis and reports to meet management information requirements.
  • Assisting the Safety department with risk assessments in the work place (e.g. DSE, COSHH, Maternity etc), offering specialist advice as appropriate.
  • Promoting positive health management within the company, and advising or training staff in areas such as health eating, smoking, stress management etc.
What you will needEssential skills and qualifications include:
  • You must be a Registered General Nurse
  • Obtain an Occupational Health qualification (part 3 of the register)
  • Have Valid NMC registration
  • Have a minimum of two years of experience in an Occupational Health Nursing role
  • Have IT Literacy
Desirable skills include:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
