Job Description

An excellent opportunity has become available to join Kennametal as a multiskilled Maintenance technician preferably with electrical bias at our Newport facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an effective and efficient plannedand responsive maintenance service to the production teams, with a high level of focus on Safety.Responsibilities

  • To complete the planned maintenance program on specified machines according to plan
  • To respond to production breakdowns in a timely manner
  • To carry out facilities maintenance tasks in addition to machine maintenance.
  • To use own initiative and experience to solve production problems as quickly and efficiently as possible
  • To accurately log details of machine breakdowns and actions taken to remedy them
  • To undertake training on the maintenance of new equipment as required
  • To take part in process improvement teams, utilising your own knowledge and experience to identify and drive improvements
Job Requirements :
  • 5 years experience in a Production Maintenance environment
  • Educated to HNC level or equivalent e.g., time served apprenticeship
  • Ability to problem solve on variety of equipment
  • Must work on own initiative and in a team environment in a busy manufacturing environment
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings
Desirable
  • Multiskilled electrical and mechanical knowledge
  • Knowledge of pneumatic control systems
  • FLT license
  • Welding/pipefitting skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • 18th edition wiring regulations
  • Induction heating experience
Base Location
  • Newport Facility situated on Leeway Industrial Estate, NP19.
Salary
  • Competitive basic salary, shift allowance and benefits package.
Hours of work
  • 12hr Day shift, 4 days on - 4 days off includes weekends. No nights.
